The hotel is basically a botanical garden; it is so beautiful. Honestly, I couldn't believe it when we arrived and I really do not think the photos do the place justice. It used to be a winery and was owned by the family of the president of Madeira. The pools are both stunning, the breakfast buffet was great (they even had almond milk, which was a surprise) and the room was far larger than we'd expected. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you're going for hikes and have a car as it's really well positioned for all the best and most famous hikes.

The staff was super friendly, always willing to help and even provide advice on activities nearby the place/tips for levadas. The place is tranquil, it felt like spending time in a tropical paradise (which was even more noticeable right in Pestana Quinta), there are flowers everywhere, so you basically end up spending your time in one flowery garden. We had a newly renovated bungalow (number 3) and almost immediately fall asleep :-) Breakfast is served in a nearby restaurant with a wide selection (and tasty sponge cakes), parking is included. It was a nice stay in a quiet yet beautiful place. Highly recommend.

Amazing location, nature is beautiful and gardens surrounding the bungalows are surreal. We were in newer studio-bungalow, and it was really nice. Waking up in the morning with lovely views and sounds of only birds is irreplaceable. Older bungalows seem a bit run-down from outside, but I cannot tell how they are from inside. There are two pools as well on site that are both good. Breakfast was nice, modest but everything was tasty. Staff is very kind and helpful, on the first night we arrived they recommended and booked us a restaurant, so we don't have to look for it.

I loved the grounds, it is a treat for gardeners. So many beautiful flowers in bloom. Plus the rose garden- fantastic! There are two nice size swimming pools. Our little house did have table/chairs an a hammock in front. Kitchenette was very basic Water pressure very good easy to control temperature as well Early start with a breakfast was a plus

I loved the breakfast every morning. High quality food and excellent staff. And the location is so beautiful! I felt like we were living in a botanical garden with a bonus rose garden. The pool was clean and pleasant to swim in even in October!

Great hotel with a large very well-taken-care-of territory, charming houses, very quiet. We enjoyed walk to the Rosarium even it wasn't the season for roses. We liked everything about our stay and wish we had more time to use the pool, stay on the terrace etc. As it was chilly in the evening, we were happy to see a small fireplace in the house and prepared wood for making fire (in addition to the electric heater that was provided), but unfortunately we couldn't enjoy the fire, as the wood was extremely tough and wouldn't burn. Breakfast included in the rate was served in the restaurant nearby and had everything needed including hot items, eggs etc

The Tropical Garden, the pools and the surrounding was outstanding. From the First Minute we loved it! We had two apartments next to each other which was great for a family. Both were clean and new and we liked them. Small kitchenette- enough for us but if you want to cook real meals things might be missing.

The property is truly charming, with several independent bungalows that make the place feel special and relaxing. Located in the northern part of the island, it’s perfect for those looking for a quiet retreat surrounded by nature. With two convenient parking areas, it’s an excellent base for exploring the island by car. The rooms were comfortable and well-kept, and we had a pleasant stay overall.

Our staying in Pestana was lovely. The garden and the whole complex is outstanding. The amount of plants and views wherever you looked were absolutely beautiful. The bungalow was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. It was quiet and private. You can use the common swimming pool (there are two of them) - both nicely maintained. The staff was very helpful and nice. Breakfasts are good - many options to choose. Nearby is the local shop and view point - 5mins away by foot. I strongly reccomed staying here if you look for a quiet, slow place with nature around :)
